Over the past few years, I’ve bought and renovated two houses, one room at a time, often while living in the chaos of construction zones and half-tiled bathrooms. I’ve styled shelves while drywall dust fell around me. I’ve hauled Facebook Marketplace finds into houses that barely had floors. And I kept going, even when money was tight, even when I was supporting my husband through grad school, then while doing that while also going to grad school, even when it felt like there were a thousand other things to do first.
